Law and Safety Enforcement with Mr. Edwards

Students from Pershing High School recently had an exciting and educational opportunity to visit Oakland Community College in Auburn Hills for an engaging campus tour that exposed them to a variety of career and technical programs.

During the visit, students toured the entire campus and were introduced to several of the college’s hands-on learning environments. One of the highlights of the trip was exploring the Robotics Program, where students learned how advanced technology, engineering, and programming are used to design and operate robotic systems. The experience sparked curiosity and excitement among many students who are interested in STEM-related careers.

Students were also fascinated by the K-9 Dog Unit demonstration, where they observed how specially trained dogs assist in safety operations and law enforcement activities. The presentation provided valuable insight into careers in criminal justice and public safety.

Another memorable moment was watching the Fire Cadet Program in action. Students witnessed a live demonstration where fire cadets simulated emergency response procedures and successfully put out a fire. This powerful demonstration allowed students to see firsthand the skills, teamwork, and training required in firefighting and emergency services.

The visit provided Pershing High School students with a meaningful glimpse into college life, career pathways, and technical training opportunities available after graduation. Experiences like this help inspire students to think about their future goals and explore the many possibilities that higher education and specialized training programs can offer.

Overall, the trip was both educational and inspiring, leaving students motivated and excited about potential careers in robotics, public safety, and fire services while also helping them envision themselves continuing their education beyond high school. 🎓🚒🤖🐕‍🦺
