Pershing Finest Alumni Celebrates Count Day

Pershing Finest Alumni Celebrates Count Day

We extend our sincere gratitude to the Board members who took time out of their busy schedules to participate in DPSCD Count Day at Pershing High School yesterday. Your presence was not only appreciated — it was powerful. When leadership shows up, it sends a clear message to our students that they matter, that they are seen, and that their education is a shared priority.

Count Day is more than just a number — it represents opportunity, resources, and the continued growth of our school community. By standing alongside our scholars, you reinforced the importance of attendance, accountability, and community engagement.

To make the day even more special, PHSAA rewarded students with Valentine’s Day gifts and treats as a token of appreciation for attending classes throughout the day. These thoughtful gestures affirmed our students’ importance and visibility, reminding them that their commitment to learning does not go unnoticed. Moments like these help create a culture where students feel valued, celebrated, and encouraged to succeed.

Active participation in school events like Count Day demonstrates unity and unwavering support for those directly impacted by funding and enrollment outcomes. It is through collective action that we continue to strengthen Pershing’s legacy and ensure that our scholars receive the resources they deserve.

As proud Doughboys and Doughgirls, we lead by example. Our actions reflect not only on Pershing High School but on generations of alumni who carry the school’s rich tradition of excellence, resilience, and community pride.

A very special acknowledgment goes to Board of Detroit Police Commissioner President Darryl Woods for his leadership, visibility, and steadfast commitment to both the community and Pershing High School. His engagement exemplifies what true partnership looks like — showing up, supporting our youth, and investing in the future.

Together, we continue to build, uplift, and inspire. Pershing Proud! 💙
