Shopping at Somerset with the Students

Shopping at Somerset with the Students

On December 11, 2025, the holiday spirit was alive and shining bright for six incredible students from Pershing High School and their families. Through the generosity of our valued Better Together Partner, Mr. Daryl Woods, students and parents were treated to a memorable shopping experience at Macy’s - Somerset Collection

With smiles and excitement, families explored the store selecting much-needed winter essentials—from warm socks and sturdy boots to cozy blankets and stylish winter coats. For many, this was more than just shopping; it was an experience of dignity, joy, and being cared for during the holiday season. Parents expressed heartfelt gratitude as they watched their children confidently choose items that would keep them warm and comfortable throughout the winter months.

After their shopping adventure, the group headed to Chick-fil-A - Somerset Collection for lunch, where the day took an even more inspiring turn

Just after the students placed their orders, the manager made a special announcement that filled the room with pride. She shared that she is a proud Pershing High School Class of 2009 alumni—and in a beautiful act of generosity, she decided to pay for everyone’s lunch. The students were overwhelmed with excitement and gratitude! They personally thanked her and Mr. Woods for their kindness, realizing in that moment what it truly means to be part of a legacy of excellence and support.

This unforgettable day reflected the power of community partnerships, alumni pride, and the village that surrounds our students. It was more than a shopping trip—it was a reminder that Pershing alumni continue to pour back into the next generation.

It was truly a Great Day to be a Doughboy/Doughgirl! 💙
